Clevedon United’s under-15 girls gave table-topping Bishops Lydeard a fright in their latest outing at the weekend.

They took a surprise lead when a lovely through ball from Jade fell for Maisy to slot home, but Bishops rallied to level five minutes later from the edge of the box.

Two quick goals form their pacey strikers put Bishops 3-1 up in the second half to suggest they might go on to match their minimum haul of six goals per match.

But Clevedon dug deep and Evie made a great interception to send girl of the game Jade clear past two defenders to lob the keeper with 10 minutes remaining.

Wearing their much-needed new kit sponsored by Redwatch Security Ltd, Clevedon looked like they might get themselves back on level terms late on, but a relieved Bishops held on for a 3-2 win.

Clevedon: Roseanna, Abi, Evie, Eleni, Aimee, Maria, Holly, Jade, Phoebe, Maisy, Iva, Leah.
