Nailsea Churches gave a spirited performance against high-flying Woodland Rangers.

NAILSEA started the better team, but were caught on the break when a defensive slip allowed Woodlands to take the lead after eight minutes.

Churches kept battling and were unlucky when Woodlands scored a second well-worked goal just before half-time. They kept battling, taking the game to Woodlands, and were unlucky not to score when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball go everywhere except the back of the net.

Woodlands’ third goal came two minutes before full time when they again caught Nailsea on the break to seal the win.

Nailsea can hold their heads high, this was no disgrace to lose against Woodlands, who have yet to drop a point in the league and have also reached the finals of both the Bristol Churches FA Cup and a Gloucester County Cup final.

Columba Peoples was Nailsea’s man of the match, with Ricky Jefferies voted oppositions MVP.
