Clevedon Town made it five wins in a row with a 3-2 success at Buckland Athletic to move up to third in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division table.

Tom Creed saved an early effort from Stuart Bowker before his long ball found Lucas Vowles to tee up Nathaniel Groom, whose scuffed shot fell for George King to stroke past Kenny Griffiths.

Nathan Cooper's drive was pushed wide by Creed, who then kept out a Cooper header from Louie Jagger-Cane's cross.

And Clevedon doubled their lead on 14 minutes as Jay Murray found King on the right of the box and he chipped over Griffiths into the far corner of the net.

The hosts hit back before the half-hour mark as Dan Western's cross from the left was cleared as far as Bowker, who picked out Tom Dunlop at the near post to head home.

And Bowker sent a fierce shot over the bar soon after, before Jagger-Cane was narrowly wide of the far post.

Buckland thought they had levelled before the break when Creed's attempted clearance hit Bowker and flew into the net, but the referee ruled it out for handball.

It was all square nine minutes after the restart, though, as Cooper's shot was adjudged to have hit Callum Kingdon's arm and Western converted from the penalty spot.

And Cooper was just wide from Danny Gaze's free-kick, before Creed's magnificent save kept out another effort on the hour.

Clevedon regained the lead on 65 minutes when Syd Camper's defence-splitting pass found Vowles, who beat Chris McGrath and crossed for Murray to smash home.

And it could have been 4-2 when Murray crossed for Camper, but he headed over the crossbar.

Vowles was crowded out, before King's curling free-kick was saved by Griffiths, but Cooper had a shot blocked and another deflected effort saved by Creed.

Then, in stoppage time, Vowles was denied by a block from Dunlop and Griffiths, before Bowker's goalbound header was kept out by man of the match Creed and substitute Alex Twiggs cleared off the line from a last-gasp Buckland corner.

The Seasiders are due to welcome Street to the Everyone Active Stadium on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Clevedon: Creed, Nicholson (Twiggs 61), Biggs (Drew 61), Kingdon, Ferris, Ferguson, Murray, Camper, Vowles, King, Groom (Williams 61). Unused subs: Dangerfield, Smith.
