Bristol City’s Joe Bryan has been linked with a move to join Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City.

Bryan, who grew up, went to school and played junior football in Backwell, has become an integral part of the Robins’ first team in the past few seasons as a left-back or in midfield.

The Daily Mail and Birmingham Mail however say the Blues have submitted a joint £5million bid for Bryan and his centre-back team-mate Aden Flint.

Bryan, aged 23, scored a freekick in a recent 2-0 preseason win over FC Twente and is thought to be key to Lee Johnson’s plans for the 2017-18 EFL Championship season.

City begin their new league season at home to Barnsley on Saturday afternoon and will hope to better last year’s 17th place finish.

However, bookmakers consider the Robins to be among the outsiders for promotion this year, with odds of around 50/1 for them to take the title which was won by Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United last season.
