Ashton & Backwell United take on top of the table Roman Glass St George on Saturday.

Ashton & Backwell United manager Paul Wearing is looking forward to Saturday’s last home game of the season against top of the table Roman Glass St George.

Wearing told the North Somerset Times: “With just two defeats in the last nine games and unbeaten in the last three games, we are gradually pulling away from the relegation zone, but must be on our best form against the only side to outplay this season in beating the Stags 6-0 in November.

“We have struggled this season in not being to regularly put out our best 11 due to injuries and suspensions, last week was the first time we fielded the same side for two consecutive games.

“This week we welcome back midfielders, skipper Sam Thomas and Conor Saunders from long-term injuries and so give us a full squad to choose from for possibly the first time this season.

“We are hoping for a big crowd this Saturday to support us in our quest to move away from lower end of the table, Roman Glass are a very good side, so it should be a very entertaining game.”

Kick-off is 3pm on Saturday, gates/bar/kitchen open from 2pm.
