BS20 Sports RH registered their first victory of the Clevedon Snooker League season against Mizzymead.
The only two teams to have not won a match in the Clevedon Snooker League so far this season played each other at the BS20 Sports Club.
Kevin King (BS20 Sports RH) was in fine form for the hosts as he beat Bob Selby (Mizzymead) 70-37 in the opening frame. His team-mate Des Gilbert looked good to win the second, but Mark Pemble potted the black ball to win 49-47 and put the teams level.
Home captain Tony Eastham put his side back in front with a victory over Trevor Yeo, 64-38, and John Sullivan took a tremendous scalp as he beat Simon Cambridge 59-27 to win the match for BS20 Sports RH.
Cambridge showed why he is a hard player to beat in the pairs as he made a 24 break which helped him and his partner Pemble to beat Gilbert and King 53-26. Final score BS20 Sports RH 3, Mizzymead 2.
The top two teams met for the second week running, this time with Conservative B on refereeing duties. Due to late player and a Conservative A being a player short, the frame that should have been fourth was played first.
Dave Brooks (Con B) was given a 20-point handicap start as punishment for Mark Walsh’s team only having three players. Walsh quickly made a 33 break and eased to victory 67-24.
The second frame also featured Walsh and was similar to the previous frame as he potted well to beat Mark Adams 72-13. The match was won for the A team in the third with a easy win for Phil Daniels as Mark Litson lost 51-10. It was soon 4-0 following Alan Pople’s 60-34 win against Dave Sansum.
Adams and Litson were paired for the fifth frame and looked like they might take a consolation frame, however Daniels and Pople held on and Daniels good potting at the end of the frame made the game look easy, 65-29. Final score Conservative B 0, Conservative A 5.
Triangle C’s Matt Lucas made a 24 break in the opening frame, however Steve King’s 22 break helped him win it with a score of 61-48. Mike Baker pulled the second frame back for the hosts as he beat Pete Skinner 44-30.
Lee Kerslake then put Triangle C in front with a 43-17 win over BS20 Sports A’s Ron Reeves, Kerslake making a 22 break during the frame. Paul Honess then made the match all square again as he battled well to beat Andy Sweet 67-48 to set up a tense decider.
However, Honess and King had no time to get going in the frame and lost to Baker and Sweet 62-21. Final score Triangle C 3, BS20 Sports A 2.
League table: Conservative A 16 pts; Triangle C 11; BS20 Sports A 10; Conservative B 9; BS20 Sports RH 9; Mizzymead 5.
