FOLLOWING on from their recent sports hall success, NSAC athletes Ryan Fowler and Sophie Thomas made the trip up the M5 to compete at the combined Midland Counties and South West Championships.

Both athletes were a little nervous as it’s their first year in the
Under-15 age group, but as it happens there was no need.

Fowler competed in the 400m and set a personal best of 67.91 to be placed fourth in his heat, another personal best was set in the 60m of 8.51.

Sophie also contested the 60m and set a PB of 8.41 in her opening heat and qualified for the final. In the final, she ran superbly to take a silver medal in the Midland Counties Champships, and gold in the South West Championships. Her final time was also an improved personal best performance of 8.33.
