Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club held it annual veteran men’s tournament on a perfect evening.

A series of round-robin matches were played to determine the top four men to contest the final, with only two games separating second and sixth place.

The final saw defending champions Mark Riggott and Mike Maiden beat Steve Vailes and Chris Miller, but the 6-1 scoreline did not do justice to the scratch pairing's play.

The women's event was due to be held the following evening but had to be postponed due to the weather.

The Princes Road-based club aims to promote tennis and encourage more juniors and adults of all standards to make full use of their facilities, including four floodlit courts and a clubhouse.
