Failand and Portbury Cricket Club’s awards evening and dinner proved a great success.

FAILAND and Portbury Cricket Club’s dinner and awards evening was hailed a huge success.

Outgoing captain Ed Humphreys picked up the fielder of the year award and the biggest cheer of the night went to Dan Chapman, who picked up the most improved award.

Awards - player of the year: Sam Gunerathne; clubman of the year: George Humphreys; batsman of the year: Simon Bachelor; bowler of the year: Pierre Bell; fielder of the year: Ed Humphreys; most improved: Dan Chapman

Other notable mentions went to Robert Humphreys for leading the club through a fantastic trans-
formation this winter; Dick Whittington was made a life member of the club; Jamie Fear for winning the bowling award for the 
North Somerset League; Raj Busa for winning the wicketkeeping award for the B&D and 
Ali McArthur for organisingthe 
club dinner and collecting the money.

In March 2013, the club will attempt to tour Sri Lanka. It was proposed at the AGM and again at the club dinner. Currently there are seven people interested, but the club will need 16 to tour.
