Nailsea 4th XI are well beaten by Avonside.

WHAT a difference a week makes, after holding on to everything in the field last Saturday, the Nailsea fielders struggled to hold on to anything this week.

There were however, some positives to take from this match for Nailsea. Mike Brimble (3-29) and Prince Thomas (3-41) bowled well and Mike Rowcliffe (0-43) had five catches put down in his spell. Tom Cattermole performed well behind the stumps and showed some good touch with the bat.

As a batting side chasing 278-7, Keith Bell made 34 and Rowcliffe 22, while Ellis Turner (25) and Rich Billows (10 not out) ensured Nailsea at least batted through all 40 overs to finish on 130-9.

Opening bat Dave Blake for Avonside was 126 not out with Matt Willie also getting his 50 with some big hitting

Fielding practice will take place this week for Nailsea prior to Ston Easton arriving for another home game next week.
