Failand collected maximum points against Bristol Pakistanis in a close game.

FAILAND collected maximum points after defeating the Bristol Pakistanis in a close match.

Batting first, the Pakistanis reached
108-2, but Bell and Tom Isom (8.3-3-18-5) put the brakes on, backed up by good
catching as they were bowled out for 161.

The Failand openers put on 54 from the first 12 overs, with Isom battering 40. The Pakistani spinners slowed the run rate and Failand were reduced to 150-8, with 12 needed from the last two overs.

George Humphrey (14 not out) struck three boundaries to guide Failand home. They are now 17 points behind the leaders Timsbury, where they go next week.

■ The Seconds were inserted on a drying wicket and were reduced to 56-8.

Only Charlie Jones (11) and Dave Sherwin (10) offered resistance, but Dan Chapman (13), Jagath Arachchige (23) and Sam Buckley (31), the latter two with a 61 run ninth wicket partnership, managed to get the score to 123.

An opening stand of 90 put paid to any hopes of a Failand victory. Arachchige
(1-13) and Buckley (3-37), heroes with the bat, were again at the forefront of the bowling as Failand managed four wickets before Old Down knocked off the runs.
