Clevedon romp to victory over Uphill Castle.

CLEVEDON won the toss against
Uphill Castle and batted first with Graham Trenaman and Tim Hancock, both scoring at a rapid rate to get off to a good start.

With Hancock picking up a leg injury, he had Nick Carpenter running for him and they put on 46 before Trenaman was bowled for 22.

Mike Hanley and Hancock then put on 141 runs for the second wicket. Hanley hit 72 off just 72 balls with 11 fours, Hancock went on to his 100 and was out for 117 off 117 balls with 16 fours.

Then John Bachelor scored 69 off 69 balls with five fours and a
six and Will Carpenter scored 20
as Clevedon totalled 321-5, which was one of Clevedon’s highest totals.

In reply, Uphill’s run rate increased after tight Clevedon bowling from Tom Drake, who took his first five wicket haul in Clevedon colours. Drake took 5-51 and there were also wickets for Andy Payne (1-26) and Hanley (1-49). Ben Chapman (0-28) and Carpenter (0-54) also bowled well.

Next week, Clevedon are away to Old Bristolians/Westbury.
