NAILSEA Cricket Club has been given a cash boost to enable it to attract more youngsters into the sport.

The club has been given a £785 grant by Cash 4 Clubs so it can fund coaching courses for five volunteers at a variety of levels.

The club was formed in the 1950s and has become highly recognised for its commitment to the development of youth cricket.

Committee member Adam Blower said: “We’re simply delighted to have been given a grant. We’re using the money to put volunteers on level one and level two coaching courses.

“With more qualified coaches, we can increase our participation in schools and offer cricket to more people without having to increase the financial burden on our current members through further subscriptions”.

The Cash 4 Clubs programme is funded by Betfair, in partnership with Sportsaid, and aims to provide much-needed cash to grassroots clubs.

The awards can be used to improve facilities, buy new equipment or invest in a sports club. To apply visit
