Barrow Gurney just missed out on a third-place finish in B&D Division Five after a 12-run loss to Bristol University Staff.

Ed Holdaway (5-27) produced a superb spell as the hosts were dismissed for just 128, with captain Ed Morgan hitting a quick half-century.

Paul Gard (2-9) and Frank Forge (2-36) nabbed braces for Barrow, who reached 50-1 in reply before a collapse.

Jonny Sykes (25) hit a pair of sixes, but fell with the total on 88 and the lower order crumbled.

The seconds were well beaten by Chilcompton to finish bottom of Division 13, after conceding 283 in 35 overs.

Mark Gracey made a good 55 in reply, while Adam Brace and Mark Forge shared a half-century stand as Barrow made 192-4, one of their better scores of the season.

Guy Fisher hit 60 on Sunday to pass 1,000 runs in all competitions as Barrow reached 144 in reply to Harptree Village's 263-4, after Harry Stride's unbeaten 124.
