The Conservative B team were whitewashed by BS20 Sports A in the Clevedon & District Snooker League.
Conservative B hosted BS20 Sports A in the penultimate round of Clevedon & District Snooker League fixtures.
A low scoring frame saw Tony Eastham (BS20 RH) slightly in front going into the colours against Dave Brooks. The latter had a chance to take the frame to a re-spot, but missed the pink and Eastham potted to win 40-21.
A 25 break for home player John Morse looked to be helping him take the second frame, but a foul on the black going for the pot swung the frame towards Des Gilbert, who won on the black 65-62.
Mark Adams was looking good for taking a frame for his Conservative B team in the third, but a fluked red started a 22 break for Paul Smart to come back and he stole the frame on the black 56-42, with the black hitting the near jaw of the middle pocket and still dropping.
Another close frame followed despite the final score where Dave Sansum (Con B) and Kevin King were pretty much level before a fine 28 break from King put him too far in front for Sansum to catch, 62-14.
The pairs frame was between Adams and Morse for the hosts and King and Smart. It was the BS20 Sports RH pair who took the frame 53-31 to complete the whitewash. Final score Conservative B 0, BS20 Sports RH 5.
The second match was Mizzymead against BS20 Sports A. A 22 break for the visiting Steve King helped him take the first frame 68-3 over Frank Archer. BS20 Sports A captain Pete Skinner won the second too 55-22 against Bob Selby.
Mizzymead’s Colin Tucker had no answer to Paul Honess in a frame which saw the away player win 59-6 before Ray Moorcroft made it 4-0 with a victory of his own over Trevor Yeo 47-35.
The pairs frame went the same way too with Paul Honess making a 23 break for him and his pairs partner King to go on a win 57-32 against Archer and Selby. Final score Mizzymead 0, BS20 Sports A 5.
League table: Conservative A (played 15) 55 points; BS20 Sports A (14) 42; BS20 Sports RH (15) 40; Conservative B (16) 29; Mizzymead (14) 19.
Tonight (Wed) will see Mark Adams (Conservative B) take on Steve Rees (Mizzymead) in the Handicap Cup semi-final for a chance to play Mark Walsh (Con A) in the final.
In the Pairs Cup too it will be Brooks and Sansum (Con B) against Moorcroft and Skinner (BS20 A) to see who plays Gilbert and Smart (BS20 RH) in the final.
