Conservatives hold a big lead

Conservative A hold a big lead in the Clevedon Snooker League after another maximum points victory.
BS20 Sports A entertained Triangle C in a Clevedon Snooker League match where both teams needed a big win to try to catch Conservative A.
Mike Baker won the opening frame for the visitors with a 54-23 win over Pete Skinner, before Paul Honess pulled one back for his team 65-26 against Andy Sweet.
Steve King made it 2-1 to BS20 Sports A with a 76-38 point victory against Dan Heard. King had to play the fourth frame as well as BS20 Sports A only had three players on the night. Oli Beesley scored 10 points less than King, but the 20-point handicap start was enough for him to hold on at the end of the frame, 50-40.
The pairs frame had the same 50-40 scoreline, but this time Honess and Skinner were the victors against Baker and Sweet. Final score BS20 Sports A 3, Triangle C 2.
Alan Pople dominated his frame against John Sullivan as Conservative A hosted against BS20 Sports RH and won 53-9. Mark Walsh soon made it 2-0 with a 57-21 win over Tony Eastham.
A close third frame followed and Ashley Hind won 62-50 against Kevin King to win the match before Phil Daniels made it four with a win of his own against Des Gilbert.
Daniels and Hind made is a clean sweep with frame five and a relatively easy win against Gilbert and King. Final score Conservative A 5, BS20 Sports RH 0.
The final match of the night was held at the Mizzymead Recreation Centre. Frank Archer was the first home player up against Dave Sansum and won 49-23. Roger Shortman won an entertaining frame on the black ball against Mark Pemble 49-46 to level the match.
A lengthy third frame followed which saw Mizzymead’s Colin Tucker left an easy black for the frame by Mark Litson for Tucker to win 45-38. Mark Adams pulled another frame back for the visiting Conservative B with a 63-40 win against Trevor Yeo.
Archer and Simon Cambridge won the pairs frame as Cambridge kept potting balls no matter where he was left against Adams and Sansum, 76.41. Final score Mizzymead 3, Conservative B 2.
League table (after five matches): Conservative A 21 pts; BS20 Sports A 13; Triangle C 13; Conservative B 11; BS20 Sports RH 9; Mizzymead 8.
There were no breaks over 20 and next week the Knockout Cup starts. All captains will be informed of player handicaps prior to the matches.
