CLEVEDON Tennis Club’s first team travelled away to Wells on Sunday to play their latest North Somerset Division 1 fixture.

CLEVEDON Tennis Club’s first team travelled away to Wells on Sunday to play their latest North Somerset Division 1 fixture.

The match started with an easy men’s doubles win for Mike Dale and James Bassett 6-1, 6-3. The ladies’ doubles was a hard fought encounter, but Josie Vickers and Lucinda Davidson ended with nothing to show for it in a 6-0, 6-0 loss.

Clevedon won both mixed doubles rubbers with James and Josie winning 6-1, 6-3 and Mike and Lucinda winning 6-2, 6-3. The overall match score was an 8-2 win for Clevedon.

Clevedon currently sit third in Division 1 with a game in hand.

North Somerset Division 1: Woodland A played 6, 45 points; Nailsea A 6, 44; Clevedon A 5, 40; Trull A 5, 34; Minehead A 6, 19; Wells A 7, 15.

Clevedon also have a team in Division 1 of the Avon League and are currently top with four matches to play.

Avon League Division 1: Clevedon 6, 42; David Lloyd West 6, 34; Lansdown 5, 24; Bristol 4, 22; Central 5, 20; Bath 4, 8.
