Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves took all three points in this close encounter against Keynsham Town Reserves.

Nailsea & Tickenham Res 3

Keynsham Town Res 1

Full credit goes to the groundstaff to get this game on with the very wet weather to contend with as other games were called off in the area.

The Swags started brilliantly in this Somerset County Division one encounter, Joe Berry causing early problems and James Brown forcing the Keynsham number keeper into a low save.

Keynsham had only lost two games prior to this and showed why they are challenging at the top. With pace on the break, N&T had to put a lot of effort in to track runners, Tom Smith and Chris Corner blocking early shots.

N&T took the lead after a Berry corner resulted in a goalmouth scramble and was eventually bundled in by Alan Mcferran for a well-deserved opening goal.

The pitch held up well and there was some good football played by both teams. N&T piled on the pressure, but this time after winning another corner, Keynsham were able to break in numbers and found a equaliser as a cross-shot took a deflection off Tom Smith and bounced over the helpless George Shanks-Boon in the Nailsea goal.

Strike partners Jack Towill and Berry were causing Keynsham problems all day and again after good play, N&T won another corner just before half time.

Towill converted from close range after the ball was not cleared resulting in N&T leading at the break.

The home side continued the workrate in the second half and were able to press Keynsham, who liked to play out from the back and force them into mistakes.

The third goal was the goal of the game, Towill beat his man out wide and fired in a pinpoint cross to Berry, who made no mistake from inside the box.

N&T were able to control the rest of the game with great individual displays all round, earning a well-deserved three points.

The S&R Burchill’s man of the match was Jack Towill.
