Clevedon AC members took part in their first cross-country event of the season at Katherine Lady Berkeley's School in Wotton-under-Edge.

A squad of 19 travelled and heavy rain from the previous day provided muddy conditions for all.

Joanne Gallagher led the women home in eighth place, ahead of Francesca Rawlings (22nd), Laura Croker (57th), Helen Ball (82nd), Sally Richards (105th), Paula Hall (126th), Marie Lochrie (149th) and Elaine Heyes (167th).

The veteran team finished second, just two points away from victory.

The men raced over 5.5 miles and head coach Luke Murray led them home in 10th place, ahead of Lee Southernwood (24th), Matthew Evans (50th) and Nick Hides (52nd), who was first in his age group.

Gary Lewis (61st), Ben Burns (65th), Steve Wood (74th), Clive Richards (122nd), Jason Moss (142nd), Steve Hollier (182nd) and Andy Hall (197th) also ran as the vets finished second and the men took seventh.
