Clevedon Swimming Club finished in fifth position in the A final of the Cotswold Swimming series.

Clevedon Swimming Club took part in the A final of the Cotswold Swimming series competing against Bristol Penguins, Cinderford, Cheddar, Bristol Henleaze, Wellington, Cirencester and Bishopsworth.

Heading into the gala, Clevedon were seeded in seventh position following the competitive series of four galas which saw 20 clubs battle it out to qualify for the final.

Once again the girls’ 13- and-under medley relay team (Amelia Hancock, Poppy Leaman, Kate Sergeant and Eva Farmery) swam too fast and were unable to bring home the points by swimming faster than the cut-off time.

Despite some fantastic swimming, Clevedon were lying in eighth place after the first 20 events, but eventually closed out the gala with a creditable fifth position.

The girls team for the finals were: Sophie Chambers, Keziah Douglas, Annabel Earnshaw, Eva Farmery, Livvy Finnie, Amelia Hancock, Poppy Leaman, Addy Ledward, Caitlin Mark, Sophie Olver, Anna Papalouca, Merry Pollard, Chloe Price, Martha Sell, Kate Sergeant and Florence Tayler

Boys: James Collins, Lucas Hayles, Charlie Instrall, Finlay James, Sam Ledward, Joel Lomax, Max Patterson, Jacob Sell, Luke Snell, Blayne Stanbrook, Sam Streeter, George Symonds and Joe Thorne.

In addition, other members of the Cotswold team who have swam in series and preceding galas were: Roman Bessant, Clara Finch, William Finch, Megan Fry, Jon Gall, Erica Godfrey, Ruby May-Hawkins, Tabitha Pollard, Malia Smith, Max Streeter, Nathan Turner, Oran van der Holt and Bertie Williams.

As always the club was well supported with officials Keith Hayles, James Ledward and Nicola Mark. The team managers are also grateful for the support and Pat Leaman (Ccoach), Jan Farmery, Kate Ledward , Jayne Patterson, Sue and Pat Stanbrook ensured the team were all in the right place at the right time, while Liesa Price and Jo Streeter were kept busy taking the split times for each event.
