Clevedon claimed an eight-run win at Sidmouth as they continue to prepare for the new WEPL season.

Put into bat, they saw Ryan Thorpe (37), Luke Pearson Taylor (33), Edward Wade (32), Josh Breed (29), Jack Harding (23), Scott Ford (22) and Max Horton (21 not out) contribute to a 40-over total of 232-8.

And after the hosts reached 148-2, with half-centuries from Jamie Baird and Codi Yusuf, Cameron Harding (3-40) made the breakthrough to prompt a collapse.

Wade (3-54), Tyler Leaman (1-34) and Horton (1-38) also had success as Sidmouth came up short on 224-8.

Clevedon slumped to 13-3 at St Fagans on Sunday, before Thorpe (72) dropped anchor to help them recover to reach 152.

The home openers put on 57 to lay the foundations for a three-wicket win, with Leaman (3-28), Breed (2-19) and Mark Bibbing (2-41) sharing the wickets to fall.

Clevedon visit Bristol for another friendly on Saturday and start the WEPL season at Bath on May 7.
