Clevedon ladies were narrowly beaten by league leaders Hanham.

CLEVEDON ladies were beaten by Hanham, who managed to keep their top of the league position.

Clevedon were broken down on two occasions in the first-half by two set pieces putting them 2-0 behind.

However, they remained positive and with Tori Gilbert intercepting in the middle of the field it was Clevedon’s chance to pressurise the opposition.

Debbie Hollier made several runs down the right hand side, breaking through the opposition and putting several balls through, but Clevedon were unable to convert.

Clevedon were passing the ball around more positively with Lizzie Ford linking up with Molly Bird and Sandra Slaney. The pressure paid off as Slaney pounced and fired the ball into the goal from a rebound giving Clevedon a fighting chance.

However, the hope was short lived as Hanham took a free hit early securing them the three points in a 3-1 victory.
