Cleeve cemented their 12-point lead at the top of Bristol & District Division Two with a thumping 170-run win over bottom club Chew Magna.

After choosing to bat, they saw Mitch Want caught down the leg side for 16 with the total on 23.

But James Ball hit 12 fours in a 69-ball 72 and put on 153 with Sam Williams, who added another 127 with Glenn Lewin.

Williams finished unbeaten on 112 as Cleeve closed on 303-2, with Lewin 59 not out at the other end.

And the visitors lost an early wicket to the returning Andy Barnsley (1-30) thanks to a Connor Hance catch.

Lewin (2-29) struck twice to make it 61-3, as Alfie Parsons (0-27) missed out, and Connor Hance dismissed Stewart-Richardson one short of a half-century with the ttoal on 85 in the 17th over.

Want (1-12) got in on the act, as Williams held a chance, and took his 12th catch of the season to give Hance (2-20) another scalp to make it 122-6.

Captain Tom Carpenter turned to left-arm spinner Williams, who nabbed 4-4 in just 15 balls - with three of them caught and bowled!

A Carpenter stumping - his 21st dismissal in the league - wrapped up the innings on 133 in the 28th over ahead of a trip to Bishopston this weekend and the Somerset Intermediate Cup final at Taunton on Sunday.

The seconds completed a fourth straight win double by beating Bristol University Staff by seven wickets in Division 10.

Cam Elswood (0-43) and Alex Grubb (0-37) bowled well without success before Josh Geal made the breakthrough with the score on 46 in the 10th over.

Tom Redding (3-35) reduced the hosts to 92-4 and veteran Andy Martin (3-28) got in on the act with a quick brace before also ending a 79-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Geal (2-40) struck again on his return as the innings closed on 210-9, but Cleeve lost Charlie Grubb (19), Ellis Turner and Dan Dixon cheaply.
