Cleeve got back to winning ways against Bishopston seconds in Bristol & District Division Two.

Tom Carpenter put the hosts into bat and Andy Barnsley and Ben Miller bowled disciplined lines, with Dan Jones taking a catch off the latter for the breakthrough.

First change Connor Hance continued the theme, picking up the next wicket bowled, and finishing his eight-over stint conceding just 20 runs.

Mitch Want (0-32) was unsuccessful in his eight overs and young off-spinner Alfie Parsons (0-22) bowled a tidy four-over spell but with only three wickets down, Sam Williams was introduced for some left arm finger spin.

The wickets began to tumble and Williams claimed 4-25 - bowled, LBW and catches by Miller and Want - before Miller (2-41) returned to secure another scalp thanks to a Williams catch as Bishopston closed on 164-8.

Ben Jones was soon back in the pavilion in reply, caught down the leg side for two, and Tom Birt was bowled for five.

But Glenn Lewin (27) combined with Williams (33) as the runs started to flow and Want added a dozen runs, before Dan Jones (27 not out) and Barnsley (35 not out) sealed a five-wicket win in the 31st over ahead of a trip to Bitton.

The seconds suffered a last-ball defeat to Frampton Cotterell in Division 10 after a delayed start to allow four visiting players to arrive.

Andy Martin was caught behind first ball and Dan Dixon followed for 27, but captain George Parsons survived an early chance to reach 31.

Alex Nichols hit two boundaries in his first over, but fell for nine, and Stuart Williams missed a full toss to fall LBW for one.

Josh Carpenter was bowled without score but Ellis Turner (15) and Kelston Crew played sensibly and Terry Horler added 11 before being run out.

Josh Geal (2) was caught, but young Tom Martin helped Crew (28 not out) see out the 40 overs to lift the total to 152-9.

The opening seam attack of Carpenter (2-23) and Geal (0-22) bowled tight eight-over spells, before leg-spinner Horler nabbed three wickets and off-spinner Crew bagged a brace.

Tom Martin bowled well without success, as did Turner, who took a catch off the bowling of Andy Martin (2-8) only for Cleeve to suffer a one-wicket loss ahead of a home date with Old Bristolians.
