Nailsea triathlete John Mason qualifies for world championships to be held in Beijing, China.
NAILSEA triathlete John Mason competed at the British Sprint Championships recently, finishing seventh in his age category and 26th overall.
The performance secured him a place in the Great Britain age group squad for both this year’s World Championships in Beijing, China, and the 2012 European Championships in Elat, Israel. The 31-year-old, had already qualified for this year’s European Championships which take place in Spain in two week’s time.
“After a difficult start to the year, with an ankle injury and flu before build up races, it is great to be coming back to form before Spain,” said Mason. “It’s fantastic to be going to another World Championships and to be back in the GB squad for next year too.
“The age group team is self-funded so I am looking for sponsorship to get to future GB events. I have already received fantastic support from Bakers of Nailsea, and Old Mill accountants, but travel to China with equipment is expensive. Without further help, I may be unable to attend.”
