NAILSEA Ladies had the advantage as soon as they walked on the pitch with Axa only fielding nine players.

Play got under way and Nailsea quickly took the lead when Cath Hole took on the defence and slotted the ball in the net. This spurred Nailsea on and Hole struck for the second time in as many minutes.

With the rock solid midfield of Jo Faiers, Maryl Steyn, Laura Turner and Tracy Williams, Axa were unable to get in to the Nailsea defence and great team work ended in Tracy Williams adding to the score sheet, quickly followed by Faiers.

With all credit to Axa they did not let up and they continued to put the pressure on hoping to test the Nailsea keeper. Jenny Haynes and Steyn also added to the score sheet during the first-half.

Axa bravely took the second half in their stride and upped their pace, but this was no match for the Nailsea forwards. Danni Douel came out of defence with a great run before placing the ball soundly in the left corner. Axa showed great sportsmanship throughout the whole game, but were keen to hear the final whistle blow.

Goals were scored by: Cath Hole (8), Tracy Williams (3), Jo Faiers (3) Jenny Haynes (3), Maryl Steyn and Danni Douel.

Players of the match were Laura Turner and Danni Douel.
