Busy weekend for Nailsea Croquet Club as all four teams are in action.

ALL four of Nailsea Croquet Club’s Golf Croquet league teams were in action for their first matches of the season.

Nailsea Central won away at Kington Langley, 12-8. Tony Hinchliffe won all four of his singles, while promising youngster Harry Dodge, who joined the club last season, won three out of four, narrowly losing his last game.

Nailsea South East lost at home to East Dorset SE, 9-11, a record six games finishing in a draw. Mary Barnes had an excellent final game in the singles beating East Dorset’s top player 7-0 and David Hunt had a good 7-1 win.

Nailsea South West beat Porthpean away, 13½-6½ and Nailsea North lost at home to Cheltenham, 7½-12½.

On Sunday, Nailsea second team had a good 5-0 away win at Budleigh Salterton in the second division of the Advanced League.

Nailsea Croquet Club had a good attendance at its recent open days with 30 visitors and will start coaching beginners later this month. Anyone interested should contact Coral Harrison on 01275 851029..
