Portishead Pirates Buccaneers have their sights on promotion with just three matches remaining.

Portishead Pirates Buccaneers are flying high following two wins from two matches.

The local netball club are sponsored by MCF property maintenance and have three teams playing in the Weston & District Netball League.

The Buccaneers took on league challengers Nailsea in a very close game, holding their nerves to take it 38-36 at the final whistle.

The following week saw the girls up against third-placed Weston Trinity. The game started at a fast pace with Buccs taking charge and doubling Weston’s goals for the first quarter to end 13-6.

The second quarter continued the same way with Buccs keeping Weston out of the game and it was 27-10 at half-time.

The second half of the match saw Weston pick up the attack and net more goals per quarter, but with Buccs matching goal for goal, Weston could not claw back the deficit and the match ended 44-27.

As the scoreline shows it was a sterling effort by all the Buccs team, but especially GS Lindy Cox, who picked up the double accolade of nominated player from Weston and players’ player from the Buccs team.

Buccs now have their sights on promotion with just three matches left this season.
