Bristol Karate Academy won two bronze medals at the JKS England National Championships recently.

A squad of four travelled to Nottingham to face some of the best from one of the biggest Shotokan Karate organisations in England.

And they maintained their good form in team kata, as Steven Connell, Dan Salter and Annaliesa House won bronze in only their second time out.

Steven Connell also put in an excellent performance in the individual kata, showing trademark poise and focus.

Despite being beaten by the eventual champion in the eliminations, he came back strongly in the repecharge to secure his second bronze at the event.

Connell leads the Long Ashton dojo, while Salter teaches in Westbury as well as the youth programme in Backwell.

Bristol Karate Academy also holds classes in Nailsea and currently has a few spaces for new starts. Visit bristolkarateacademy.com.
