West Backwell Bowling Club saw their winter short mat competition won by Barrie Baker, John Pope, Jean and David Jones and Christine Lawrence.

John Couch and Jerry Ashmore won the men's pairs at Bristol against Adam Knights and his partner, while Couch, Ashmore and Knights lost by one shot in the triples final.

At Nailsea, Knights, Ashmore and Alan Robinson won the triples and Couch and Robinson took the pairs.

The women's singles finalist was Julie Ratcliffe, as Cynthia Burgess, Pat Kingston and Ratcliffe won the Thursday League.

West Backwell also played in Nailsea's indoor/outdoor league against four other outdoor clubs, with Nailsea winning on shot difference.

The club, situated on the A370 in Backwell in the Recreation Grounds, will be holding open days on April 27 (10.30am-12.30pm) and April 28 (2.30-5pm). Bowls are provided, but flat shoes are required.
