Somerset youth bowlers had a great start to the national under-18 mixed triples against Dorset at Taunton Deane.

Imogen Cracknell won 19-14, while Sam Stocker drew 17-17 in their 36-31 victory ahead of a return meeting at Doplhin IBC on January 19.

Somerset will also play against Devon and Wiltshire in the competition.

The under-25s lost by 20 shots against their Devon counterparts in their match.

Somerset Indoor Patrons beat Bristol (127-110) and Wiltshire (126-91) on their return from the festive break.
