Birds race home

Wraxall Village club birds race home with a following wind.

WRAXALL Village Club birds were liberated from Yelverton, near Plymouth.

Held over until 2.15pm due to poor weather, the birds, assisted by a brisk south west wind, stormed home. The winning bird belonged to Portishead members Jackie and Nick Stone, completing the 90 mile flight in 90 minutes.

20 members sent 532 birds: J & N Stone 1752 yards per minute (60 miles per hour); P & B King 1746; T & M Carpenter 1740; Brian Isaac 1735; Pete Atherton 1725; Paul Titcombe 1699.
