Avon Schools won all four age group competitions against six other counties.

In the Under-13 girls, Shannon Holloway (Backwell) ran superbly to win the four-lap race in 48.5, just pipping team-mate Chloe Hockey. The two girls then combined to win the Paarlauf (eight-lap relay) decisively from Devon.

Sophie Thomas (Worle) became champion in the two-lap and speed bounce, recording 94 bounces and 22.3 seconds, and then still had energy to anchor the 4x2-lap relay team home to gold.

Her efforts were noteworthy after Sophie had to change shoes after her heat when her trainers disintegrated and she was forced to borrow a pair from a team-mate.

Adaora Chigbo (Bristol GS) from Portishead left it late in the triple jump winning with her final effort of 6.52m.

Cecilie Anderson (Gordano) ran a great six-lap race to win silver in 1.19.0 and then took fourth place in the speed bounce with 79 bounces.

In the boys, Tom Wilkins (Backwell) called up to run in the four-lap, won his heat and then finished fourth in the final. He then switched to long jump, winning silver with 2.30m, a personal best.

Ryan Fowler (Gordano) won bronze in the high jump with 1.35m, and then together with Aidan Paul (Priory) and two other team-mates, won the obstacle relay.

Dani Fisher (Worle) threw 7.70m for fourth place in the shot and Phoebe Sherborne (St Kaths) ran in sixth place in the six-lap with 1.21.0m and then jumped 5.74m for sixth in the triple jump.

At Under-15 level, Rebecca Abbott, Rosie Parsons (Backwell) and Fran Allen (Nailsea) were members of a record breaking girls team filling the first four places in the all rounder competition. Rebecca took the silver, whilst Fran took the bronze.

In the Under-15 boys, Jospin Buxton (Priory) competed strongly in a winning team, taking medals in the long jump.
