A juniors side unveiled their new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Greenfield Crescent Playing Fields recently.

The potentially life-saving equipment has been installed on a purpose-built wall outside of Nailsea Juniors' equipment compound meaning that it is available for use in an emergency by the community.

Funding and installation of the kit has been a real community effort with contributions coming from all over Nailsea from the Town Council, the Playing Fields Association, Avon and Somerset Police Community Fund, the Community Trust and Groundwork, a Tesco Community Grant, and the club themselves.

In addition to the supply of the defibrillator itself, local businesses pitched in with materials for the power supply and the wall.

LJH Landscaping supplied the effort for building the wall while Courtney Jones Electrical Services installed the power supply with the building materials supplied by Travis Perkins.

Nailsea Juniors vice-chairman Ben Watts, demonstrated how the device provides simple audio instructions to guide the user in case of a medical emergency.

He said "It’s been a great effort for the community by all involved with people offering their time and resources to provide such an important piece of equipment.

"We were recently at an away match when a grandparent suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch-side and the other spectators were able to quickly access an AED and were able to save a life."
