North Somerset Athletic Club kept the grip on top spot after tof the Avon Track & Field

The third round of the Avon Track & Field League was played out against a backdrop of ominous clouds that never actually materialised

Going into the fixture at Gloucester, North Somerset Athletic Club were hanging onto the top spot, with both Bath and Yate breathing down the necks.

Traditionally the August fixture affects NSAC more than others, with holidays leaving the club short of athletes. This time was no different, but with team managers working minor miracles with selections and a massive effort by all athletes, the club were able to finish an excellent third on the day and somehow maintain their grip on top spot.

As always a massive thank you to all athletes, officials, team managers and supporters.

Winners on the day were: Nyree, Under-13 girls’ 75m (10.8), 70m hurdles (12.9); Steph, Under-15 girls’ 300m (45.50), triple jump (9.92m, new league record); Lottie, Under-17s womens’ high jump (1.20m); Caroline, senior women’s pole vault (3.10m); Ben, Under-17 men’s 800m (2.09.10); Timothy, Under-17 men’s long jump (5.25m); Graham Brooks, senior men’s shot (9.58m).

The Under-11 Quadkid teams continue to be competitive, currently second in the league. Individual scores as follows: Gabriel 212 pts; Ben 157; Alex 180; Joel 210; Harry 183; Nancy 145; Eloise 162; Livi 189.
