Ashton & Backwell Reserves saw their opening game of the Uhlsport Somerset League season at Minehead abandoned late on.
A mistake in midfield by the visitors led to a breakaway goal, as Oliver Prescott crossed for Aarron Merry to head home.
But A&B had numerous chances to get back on level terms with Thomas Smart rattling a post with the pick of them.
There were only a few minutes left when Minehead's Tiago Alipio suffered a dislocated knee, which saw the match abandoned.
And A&B manager Nick Smart said: "It's tough to take. Both sides had to battle tough conditions. I thought we deserved a point but we wish their lad a speedy recovery."
A&B are due to host Uphill Castle on Tuesday (6.30pm) and visit Middlezoy Rovers Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
The first team, meanwhile, had to settle for a point in their Toolstation Western League Premier Division clash with Mousehole.
The Stags visit Bitton on Tuesday and entertain Welton Rovers on Saturday.
