GORDANO Valley Archers took first place in the Somerset County Frostbite League 2011. The league is shot outdoors on Sunday mornings between October and April each year with 15 teams representing nine clubs from across Somerset. Gordano Valley A took first place, nine points clear of South Wansdyke, while Gordano Valley B took fifth place.

Gordano Valley A took first place, nine points clear of South Wansdyke, while Gordano Valley B took fifth place.

This is the first time in the clubs history that it has won the Frostbite League. Junior archer Chessie Crook took a further honour by being the highest scoring lady in the league with an impressive 319 points.

The teams made up by Paul Maines (chairman), Tim Mustin-Twells, Dave Boulton, Yvonne Jackson, Mark Jackson, Connor Williams, Mark Renouf, Mike Solomon, Nicki Solomon, Ethan Mustin-Twells, Ellie Boulton, Derek Brown, Will Shelton, George, Burns, Nick Purdy, Paul Powell, Chessie Crook and Karl Day.

To add to this success for the winter season Gordano Valley Archers came second in the Portsmouth indoor league. Twenty-two teams representing 13 clubs from across Somerset County put in their scores each month from October to April. Mendip Bowmen took the honours by 10 points.

Gordano Valley Archers shoot every Sunday and also Wednesday evenings at their ground on Clapton Lane just outside of Portishead. The coaching team run beginners sessions every week on Sunday mornings which is attended by people from eight years old up to 80.
