Anchor Aweigh defended their title in the Portishead, Pill & District Skittles League after a tense play-off with Workmans A.

The two sides had finished joint top of the table with 17 wins from 22 games and 322 points apiece, so met at The Duke to determine the champions.

And after nearly three hours of play, Anchor Aweigh sailed off with the silverware for a second successive year thanks to the efforts of Peter Rowe, Kevin Evans, Joe Rowsell, Andy Tutton, Leigh Clarke, Nigel Parsons, Tony Mott, Charlie Mott, captain Steve Moseley, Mark Cousins, Jon Mott, John Parsons and Phil Jefferies.

Congratulations are also due to newcomers Portishead Sharks, who were promoted to the top flight as champions of the B League and also won of the Front Pin competition for all teams.
