A Nailsea croquet team triumphed in a tournament despite challenging weather conditions.
Nailsea Trendlewood secured the Division One Shield in the South West Federation of Croquet Clubs Autumn Short Croquet Teams Tournament held in Budleigh Salterton.
The three-day event saw 29 teams from the South West and South Wales compete.
The Nailsea Avening team battled wind and rain on the first day in Division Five.
Erica Malaiperuman captained the team, winning two of her four games.
Her husband, John, made his debut and was delighted to win a game.
Brian McCausland was the star of the day, securing three victories, while Peter Burns added one more to the team's tally.
The second day saw improved weather, although strong winds did blow down a communication mast, narrowly missing several players.
The Division Three Nailsea team, led by Brian Roynon, persevered, with Brian winning three games.
Libby Howard-Blood and Linda Shaw contributed three more victories.
The third day brought much-improved weather, and the Nailsea Trendlewood team, playing in Division One, took advantage.
Captain Kriss Chambers led the team to victory, defeating all opponents, including a thrilling win against local rivals Bristol with a last-shot scatter-shot peel.
Geoff Hughes, Kathy Wallace, and Roger Baddeley all added to the team's success, winning three, two, and two games respectively.
Trendlewood topped the leaderboard throughout the day, and their 11 wins secured them the Division One Shield.
Nailsea will host the spring competition in April next year.
