Nailsea and District Croquet Club's annual 1-Ball competition saw fierce matches recently.

The event was split into morning handicap play and afternoon level play.

Roger Baddeley and John Hancock emerged as top players in the morning.

The afternoon saw Baddeley clash with Kriss Chambers, securing victory.

Hancock, however, was defeated by Erica Malaiperuman.

A friendly competitor summed up the spirit of the game, saying: "Sorry I beat you, it was only down to tactics."

This year's winners, Baddeley and Malaiperuman, will advance to the Annual Competition Finals Weekend on September 27 and 28.

The club has invited all visitors to come and watch the finals.

The 1-Ball game, governed by Association Croquet rules, is a strategic mix of defence and attack, adding a unique element to the competition.

The club's event attracted both international players and local members, making for a diverse and competitive day.
