Croquet players in Nailsea recently battled it out in a speed competition.
Nailsea and District Croquet Club held its annual speed croquet contest, where teams of two had just 25 minutes per game to score.
The "frantic" event was made even more challenging by the morning's cool conditions and a sharp shower during the first round of games.
Players spent the rest of the morning drying out their kit, while lawn conditions and ball speeds became "variable", leading to "close and frustrating play."
The afternoon sun brought hot conditions and very fast lawns as they dried.
After a day of "shouting, laughter, and running after errant balls," two teams emerged victorious.
Roger Baddeley and Marion Cornwell secured three wins and a draw, while Geoff Hughes and Libby Howard-Blood ended the day with two wins, one draw, and one loss.
These pairs will now compete for the trophy at the finals weekend on September 27 and 28.
Nailsea and District Croquet Club reminded people that all are welcome to play or watch croquet at the club.
