A croquet player will represent Bristol at the English National Singles Final after winning his first championship series title.
Nailsea and District Croquet Club recently hosted the Golf Croquet Open Championship, a qualifier for the English National Singles Championship.
In Block C, under-25 player Josh Wise, of Bristol Croquet Club, secured two wins from three matches to finish second behind fellow Bristol player Dom Aarvold.
Mr Aarvold was joined in the final by Mr Wise, who had taken 2–0 wins over Colin Britt, of Camerton & Peasedown, and Stephen Custance Baker, of Taunton Deane.
With calm, consistent and methodical play, Mr Aarvold secured a decisive 7–2, 7–1 victory over Mr Wise to claim his first Championship Series title and take the David Hunt Cup.
He will now go on to the Golf Croquet English National Singles Final to be staged at the Hurlingham Club in September.
Overall, 16 players took part in the competition, including two from the Spanish city of Seville.
