Nailsea and District Croquet Club narrowly lost to Bristol Croquet Club in a tight South West Croquet Federation Short Croquet match.

Nailsea started strong, leading 5-3 at lunch, with a standout 14-0 win by Linda Shaw against Bristol's Dave Kibble.

But after the break, Bristol came back and levelled the match by the end of the third round.

With everything to play for in the final round, Bristol showed their mettle, winning all their games and finishing with a score of 10-6.

Despite the loss, Nailsea's Paul Arbos was named player of the match, winning three out of four games.

The club congratulated Bristol on their victory, saying: "It had been an excellent day of play against the local rivals, with congratulations from the Nailsea team to Bristol."
