Clevedon Town Women continued their fine start with another well-earned win in their first home game against Weston Celtic.
Clevedon's dominance in the first half saw them secure a robust 3-0 lead, before eventually overcoming a strong second half rally from the away side to clinch the win.
Clevedon's offence was strong, with significant contributions from Laura McGlone and Tiffany Britton.
Weston goalkeeper Issie Brimson and Clevedon goalkeeper Svetlana Fesenko both had chances to display their abilities, each making significant saves from incoming attacks.
Clevedon took the lead at 23 minutes in, with Laura McGlone bursting through the centre to score convincingly.
Their lead was padded further at 35 minutes when Samantha Donaldson put Grace Adams through to score, thanks to relentless pressure by Maria Rossell in midfield.
Clevedon's offence again took centre stage when a combined play between Kirsty Barrett and McGlone allowed Britton to seize an opportunity that was regrettably saved.
Donaldson's shot from an angle had to be deflected for a corner.
Just before half-time, Clevedon's wonderfully executed passing play ended in a stalemate, with Lisa Quick, replacement goalkeeper, blocking Donaldson's shot with her leg.
The teams switched sides with Clevedon comfortably in the lead at 3-0.
However, Weston Celtic fought back seven minutes into the second period when an unexpectedly long shot deceived Fesenko, scoring an easy goal.
The Irish team almost seized control of the game, even though Britton came close to scoring from a Clevedon break, and Donaldson nearly made a cross shot.
Sarah Green capitalised on Quick's short goal kick to regain Clevedon's three-goal lead, scoring a precise shot off the far post's interior.
Celtic, though defeated, made the last 10 minutes challenging for the Clevedon team.
Celtic's Phoebe Samuel reacted quickly to a loose ball and converted it to a goal resulting in a 4-2 score.
In the end, Clevedon Town Women were victorious, due to their strong defence, restricting Celtic to just two further chances.
Fesenko made a crucial save, and right at the brink of full time, Samuel broke through but wasn't able to find a shot sending the match to a close with Clevedon Town Women triumphing 4-2 over Weston Celtic Women.
