Nailsea & District Croquet Club (NDCC) witnessed a busy day as it held the knockout stages of its annual One Ball competition.
Semi-finals and the finals will be played in September – weekends of 14/15 and 28/29
Predominantly, croquet clubs use two versions of the game, but One Ball blends the rules of Association Croquet and Golf Croquet while using only one ball. During the morning sessions, the Advanced Level Play occurred where Rob Royffe and John Handcock dominated the games by clinching three out of four rounds.
This success secured them both a place in the finals, pushing Richard Broad into third place. In the afternoon sessions, handicap rules applied to level the playing field. Both Royffe and Hancock maintained their strong performances, ranking them in the top two spots and earning them each a place in the semi-finals.
Tony Hinchliffe was the clear winner in the second block, but a close contest saw Libby Howard Blood secure a humble second place. Semi-finals and finals are forthcoming and spectators are always welcome.
A club member will explain the proceedings. For further information, visit www.nailsea-croquet.org.uk.
