Clevedon Town's pre-season preparations took a turn after two contrasting performances and results.
Following a harsh 0-5 loss to Southern League Premier Division rivals Frome Town at home on Tuesday, the Seasiders rallied impressively.
They clinched a 7-0 away victory against South West Peninsula League Premier West Dobwalls FC.
Frome's dominance in Tuesday's game saw the Seasiders struggle.
Although Clevedon battled bravely for over an hour and denied Frome clear goal opportunities, Frome managed to break through in the 17th minute.
Frome's Matt Smith's timely pass to James Ollis, left Clevedon's goalkeeper, James Dunn, in two minds, before opening the scoring.
The lead was doubled on the 65th minutes thanks to a powerful shot from Jayden Nielen, and later Marcus Day's successful shot following a weak clearance by Dunn put Frome 3-0 ahead.
Two further goals in the last five minutes courtesy of Marcus Day and a further fortunate misfire from Ollis that found the back of the net resulted in a disappointing 0-5 loss for Clevedon.
However, a change of fortune was on the horizon in their match against Dobwalls.
It was a remarkable display by Clevedon where all 19 players acquitted themselves well.
Six minutes into the game, James Tait set up Joe Teall for a headed goal.
By the 34th minute, Freddie King barged through Dobwalls defence, scoring an impressive strike.
This was followed by Sam Beresford's goal from Tait's long cross making it 3-0.
A more defensive Dobwalls barely had a chance, their best effort from Dan Tate sailing high and wide.
Before half time, King managed his second goal off a Beresford lay-off, making it 4-0.
Clevedon made eight changes in the second half and weathered a brief resurgence from Dobwalls.
Substitute Oscar Bridgman started to make his presence felt, setting up fellow substitute Alex Camm on two occasions, resulting in two more goals.
Harrison Kyte put the cherry on top of a fantastic away performance by heading in Bridgman's cross to wrap up a 7-0 win.
The new Jewson Western League season beckons on Saturday with a home game against last season’s play-off rivals, Barnstaple Town.
