Clevedon CC had a tough loss to local rivals Congresbury this weekend as they were bowled out for 74 runs after just 25 overs, opening the door for Congo to win by three wickets.

Clevedon batted first and from the start Congresbury’s bowling line up looked dangerous.

They dismissed opener Harley Foley for nought in the second over and partner Carrick followed four overs later after hitting five.

Bayley Wiggins, 21 runs, and Tyler Leaman, 22, then added what they could to the team’s score before they were dismissed at 50-3 and 60-4 respectively by the 20th over.

After a respectable start Clevedon then proceeded to collapse with no other player visiting the crease hitting more than eight runs.

The final seven batsmen combined for just 20 runs across seven overs, suffering three ducks along the way, to be bowled out for a total of just 74 runs from only 26.3 overs.

Congresbury then came into bat and Clevedon’s bowlers did try to make a stand as they reduced Congresbury to 21-2, but the total was just too low.

The Congos proceeded to knock off the 74 run total in just 23.4 overs, losing seven batters along the way, as Clevedon were resigned to the three-wicket loss.
