Clevedon Promenade Bowling Club had a long week this week with some big away fixtures and won four of their five competitive league games.
First up was a match against local rivals Clevedon in the Clevedon and District Evening League, with Promenade putting on a dominant performance to triumph 53-18.
Promenade’s only loss of the week then came in their second Clevedon and District League game of the week, in a usual close battle with Portishead RBL.
The match ended in 69-103 in Portishead’s favour with only Jack Fuidge and Martin Davis leading their rinks to victory.
Davis’ team of Hollier, Pine, and Higley were the highest scorers for the day, winning their game 19-17, whilst Fuidge’s rink won 15-12.
The result was reversed in a Clevedon and District Over 55s Triples fixture against Long Ashton, with all of Promenade’s rinks winning and giving them the match 92-61.
Promenade's rink of Dowsing, Young, and Demery were the highest scoring group as they won 22-11, while Harding, Higley, and Davis matched their points margin by winning 21-10.
In the men’s second triples fixture of the week, this time in the Weston Triples league, Promenade won a very close fought battle against Clarence Park.
Promenade won 94-91 with the rink of Harris, Hill, and Young contributing the most to the team score after winning 18-7 in their game.
The ladies at promenade had just one game this week as they took on Chew Stoke and put together a great all-round performance that saw them win 51-35, with all rinks winning their games.
The squad of Morris, Hollier, Soper, and Perham put together the biggest score line with a 19-12 win.
Rounding off the fixtures were two friendlies, with the first being a mixed friendly against touring side Suttons BC.
Although the match was enjoyed by all players, it was only Margaret Dyer’s rink that came away from the day with a winning score for Promenade.
Dyer’s squad of herself, Stuckey, Rhodes, and Anslow won 18-8 whilst no other rink went past 10 points.
In their last friendly of the week the men took on Newton Old Boys and got a comfortable victory as they won 110-73.
Promenade were on fine form as they won all but one rink on the day, and highest scorers Harris, Smith, Perham, and Dowsing managed to record a monster winning margin of 24 points as they won 31-7.
