Congresbury Bowling Club had a busy week in the May sunshine as they had three fixtures in three different competitions.
First up was a home match against Portishead in the Britannia Windows Evening League, a game in which Congresbury were unable to find a rhythm against tough opponents and lost 95-59.
A Broom, R King, G Wilcock, and D McElduff were the highest scoring side for Congresbury as they won 19 – 12.
One day later, May 16th, Congresbury’s Ladies took on Winscombe in a Wessex Ladies League fixture and it was a tight battle between the two local sides.
Winscombe just narrowly got the win by six points at 53-47 but Congresbury played well, with C Wilcock, N Nunn, C Andrews and B Huggett scoring the most to help their team gain an important four league points from the game.
In Congresbury’s final game of the week the ‘B’ team took on Ashcombe ‘C’ in the County League North Two on May 18th and won by a narrow five-point margin to give their club its first victory of the week.
Top scorers for Congresbury were P Harris, M Fey, K Westlake, and D Norman who won 27-7.
