Portishead Cricket Club made it two wins from two in the First Division of the Bristol and District league after a nail-biting three wicket away win against Golden Hill’s 2nd XI on Saturday.
Golden Hill won the toss and elected to bat, allowing Portishead to put the pressure on early after Charlie Dangerfield removed Romesh Tenuwara for a duck just three balls in.
Robert Chick then clean bowled Ben Milsom for a single run just two overs later.
Dangerfield went on take four wickets, Charlie Mott added two more whilst Neil Lenihan, Lee Chambers and Will Cooper all took one for Posset as they bowled Golden Hill out for a respectable 147 after 36.1 overs.
Portishead then came into bat and the top three order Ollie Savoury, Cooper and Chick were all dismissed after just 25 runs.
Mott, 19 runs, and Kieron Garrett, 35, steadied the ship with a solid partnership until Mott was removed in the 24th over to take Portishead to 80-5.
Dangerfield and Chambers then made single digit cameos before Mike Hooper, 29 runs off 24 balls, and Jon Venn, 21 off 23 balls, came in and hit big to reach the winning total of 148 runs for Portishead with just two balls left to play.
